Prohibited Items List

1. Hazardous Materials & Dangerous Goods

Absolutely no hazardous, flammable, corrosive, or explosive materials.

• 🚫Gasoline, diesel, kerosene, lamp oil, lighter fluid
• 🚫Propane tanks, butane canisters, and all compressed gas cylinders
• 🚫Fireworks, explosives, detonators, flares
• 🚫Ammunition or firearm reloading materials
• 🚫Paint, varnish, paint thinners, mineral spirits, solvents
• 🚫Pool chemicals, chlorine tablets, shock treatments
• 🚫Fertilizers, pesticides, herbicides
• 🚫Acids, corrosives, caustic cleaners, lye
• 🚫Aerosol cans (spray paint, hairspray, cooking spray)
• 🚫Automotive fluids (engine oil, brake fluid, transmission fluid, coolant)
• 🚫Batteries containing free liquid acid
• 🚫Radioactive materials or components
• 🚫Asbestos or asbestos-containing materials

2. Liquids, Semi-Liquids, & Spillable Materials

To prevent leaks, mold, contamination, or damage to totes and other stored items. No liquids of ANY kind, including but not limited to:

• 🚫Bottled beverages (water, juice, soda, alcohol)
• 🚫Household cleaners or detergents
• 🚫Shampoo, conditioner, soaps, lotions, gels
• 🚫Perfume, aftershave, liquid cosmetics
• 🚫Oils (cooking oil, essential oils, motor oil)
• 🚫Paint, glue, adhesives
• 🚫Ink cartridges not factory sealed
• 🚫Snow globes or decorative items containing liquid
• 🚫Liquid-filled electronics (radiators, humidifiers, etc.)
• 🚫Candles (wax melts in heat and creates odors)
• 🚫Cosmetics that melt or ooze (lip gloss, certain makeup products)
• 🚫Food spreads, honey, syrup, or sauces
• 🚫Even sealed liquids are prohibited. This is a mandatory policy for tote-based storage.

3. Perishable, Odorous & Food-Related Items

These attract pests, mold, and odors even when sealed.

• 🚫All food (fresh, canned, packaged, powdered, or expired)
• 🚫Pet food or animal feed
• 🚫Supplements, protein powders, nutrition bars
• 🚫Items previously used for food storage unless thoroughly cleaned
• 🚫Beverages of any kind
• 🚫Items with strong or lingering odors (candles, incense, air fresheners, mothballs)

4. Biological, Medical & Living Items

No biological risk or living things allowed.

• 🚫Medical waste, sharps, biohazardous material
• 🚫Prescription medications, controlled substances
• 🚫Illegal drugs and drug paraphernalia
• 🚫Human or animal remains (including ashes/cremains)
• 🚫Living or dead animals, insects, plants
• 🚫Taxidermy or untreated hides
• 🚫Soil, compost, or organic matter

5. High-Value Items & Irreplaceables

To prevent loss, theft disputes, and insurance complications.

• 🚫Cash, currency, rare coins
• 🚫Jewelry, gemstones, precious metals
• 🚫Collectibles over a certain declared value
• 🚫Negotiable instruments (checks, bonds, securities)
• 🚫Original irreplaceable documents (wills, deeds, birth certificates, passports)
• 🚫Uninsured artwork or items exceeding your stated coverage limits
• 🚫These are not allowed in totes due to insurance and liability limitations.

6. Weapons, Illegal Items, & Contraband

• 🚫Firearms (operational or inoperable)
• 🚫Weapon parts, magazines, ammunition
• 🚫Knives exceeding legal carry limits (unless household)
• 🚫Stolen property
• 🚫Counterfeit or pirated materials
• 🚫Items prohibited by local, state, or federal law

7. Moisture, Mold, & Contaminant Risks

Your totes are sealed-bagged, so any moisture becomes a trapped mold risk.

• 🚫No wet, damp, or recently washed items, including:
• 🚫Clothing, towels, bedding, or fabrics that are not fully dry
• 🚫Items exposed to flooding or moisture
• 🚫Items with visible mold, mildew, or musty odor
• 🚫No items with strong or persistent smells, including:
• 🚫Candles
• 🚫Perfumes, sprays
• 🚫Incense
• 🚫Essential oils
• 🚫Chemical deodorizers

8. Bulky, Sharp, or Structural-Damage Risks

To protect the tote, bag, drivers, and warehouse handling systems.

• 🚫Items exceeding tote dimensions or weight limits
• 🚫Overly sharp tools that could puncture the tote (chainsaws, loose blades)
• 🚫Construction debris
• 🚫Sand, gravel, rocks (excess weight & contamination risk)
• 🚫Bicycles, furniture, or oversized hobby equipment

9. Electronics & Batteries (Special Rules)

Allowed only under strict conditions:

• 🚫Loose lithium-ion batteries not in protective packaging
• 🚫Damaged, swollen, or overheating batteries
• 🚫Electronics containing liquids (humidifiers, radiators, lava lamps)

10. Other Restricted Items

• 🚫Used tires (fire hazard, disposal issue)
• 🚫Large rugs or fur items unless climate-controlled
• 🚫Any item requiring licensed storage or handling
